At Monday’s Fort Dodge City Council meeting a group of citizens from the Woodlands neighborhood in Fort Dodge approached the council during the public comment section. The group of citizens from the Woodlands area is made up of a group of young mothers. They say that that the Woodlands neighborhood is made up of families with young children who would benefit from a park being built. One of the issues they had with existing parks is the lack of available for public usage. The group had taken the initiative prior to the meeting to survey lots available lots in the neighborhood that could be considered as future sites for the park. The group presented a diagram to the council of those lots. Jenny Condon from the group says they are unsure how much funding they need from the city but they are willing to raise funds to finance a portion of the project. After Condon and her associates presented the desire for the new park to the council, councilman Jeffrey Halter expressed his concerns.

Condon suggested the group should put on a workshop presentation to the council about the park and Mayor Matt Bemrich agreed.

After the meeting Jenny Condon had this to say regarding the concerns expressed b y councilman Halter.
