Coach Doug Van Pelt Joins Rob Jones To Talk Humboldt Softball

Doug Van Pelt has built the Humboldt Softball program to the point where the State Tournament is the goal and expectations. He hasn’t shied away from those expectations coming into this season either. His Wildcat program lost several really talented and proven Seniors from 2020’s State Tournament squad. Although they lost those pieces, Van Pelt’s younger talent has been great to open the season. Kendall Clark is back for Humboldt and hittng over .800 in the 1st two weeks and they have brought back some other key returners as well. Coach Van Pelt joined Rob Jones on “Coaches Corner” to talk about the culture and foundation of their program preparing the young players to be ready , when it’s their time. He talked about his veteran leaders and how they have taken the reigns. Humboldt’s one loss thus far was to Class 1A’s #1 Newell-Fonda in a competitive game. Coach Van Pelt says he feels that loss will serve his team later on in the postseason. The conversation is below.
