The Community Health Center of Fort Dodge will celebrate National Health Center week with a free community block party on Wednesday, August 11 from 5 – 8 pm. The block party will take place in front of their building located at 126 N 10th Street in downtown Fort Dodge. The celebration will include a meal, games, activities, resources for families and back-to-school healthcare for kids.

The event is part of a national campaign to increase awareness of the ways health centers are providing affordable health care in communities. National Health Center Week is August 8-14, the theme this year is “The Chemistry for Strong Communities.” Events are held nationwide to celebrate the accomplishments of America’s health centers as well as acknowledge the role they have played during the ongoing pandemic.  Community Health Center of Fort Dodge didn’t hold the block party in 2020.

Free well child checks, immunizations, sports physicals and dental exams will be offered that day and during the event. Appointments for health care services will be accepted from 10 am to 4 pm by calling 515-576-6500; walk-ins for health care services are welcome from 5 – 8 pm. In addition, Webster County Public Health will offer the Pfizer COVID 19 vaccine from 5 – 8 pm for children 12 and older. A free meal provided by the Webster County Pork Producers will be served beginning at 5 pm and is open to the public.

A complete list of community participants and activities can be found on their event page on Facebook.
