Community of Fort Dodge Plans to Pay It Forward Friday in Honor of Pastor Al Henderson

Knowing Pastor Al Henderson was a gift to the community of Fort Dodge.

From his welcoming good morning greeting to the children at St. Paul Lutheran Church to the shoulder provided by him to those who needed him most while in grief or crisis, Pastor Al the man is missed every day.

TJ Pingel told Alpha Media that he met Pastor Henderson quite a few years ago after a friend suggested they should get together.

“We hit it off right away, we became really good friends,” Pingel said.  “I started helping out with S.O.S (Save Our Servants) when he started it back in 2014 and we kind of just grew our friendship from there.”

“What always surprised me is, it would just be one of those days and he would randomly show up at the dealership to just chat. It’s like man, this guy just seems to know when you need somebody to talk to… he was just there… and it wasn’t just me.”

Pingel said he has talked to hundreds of people over the last few years who share the same sentiments about Pastor Henderson.

This Friday, in honor of the life and legacy of Pastor Henderson people are being encouraged to get out and spread random acts of kindness. Whether it’s with a group or just yourself, Pingel said Friday will be a day of remembrance to carry on with ‘love and joy’ in honor of Pastor Henderson.

Pay It Forward cards to distribute with your act of kindness can be picked up at Shimkat Motor Company or at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
