Cyclones And Hawkeyes Get Wins On Friday

Both Iowa State and Iowa got wins on Friday, both had to make plays in the 4th to do it. Iowa was a 14 point favorite going into the Nebraska game and Iowa State had a chance to make a another stride toward the Big 12 title at Texas.

On K97, Iowa had a closer than expected win over Nebraska 26-20. The Hawkeyes could never get much separation from a Nebraska team that wouldn’t go away. Iowa got two 4th quarter Field Goals from Keith Duncan to build the lead. The defense would make a play late, creating a Nebraska turnover with 1:19 left to seal the deal. Iowa DB Tyler Goodson had 111 rushing yards on 30 carries. It was the 6th straight win in the series for Iowa.

In game you hear on “True Country 540” KWMT, Iowa State moved one step closer to the Big 12 Title game. Cyclones got a win in come back fashion 23-20 at Texas. Cyclones scored 10 unanswered in the 4th after trailing 20-13 going into the final frame. QB Brock Purdy was 25 of 36 for 312 yards, a TD and no picks. RB Breece Hall had 20 carries for 91 yards and scored the go ahead TD late in the 4th. Cyclones can seal a trip to the Big 12 title game with a win over West Virginia next Saturday.
