Doctor Assaulted At State Prison In Fort Madison

A Doctor was assaulted by an inmate at the State Penitentiary in Fort Madison earlier this week. On Tuesday, an inmate entered the prison clinic area for a routine medical appointment. The inmate then assaulted the Dr., staff heard the commotion and responded. They were able to subdue the inmate. A staff member suffered injuries in the incident, the staffer was taken to a local hospital and was treated and released. No injuries to the inmate were reported. The name of the inmate has not yet been released and the incident remains under investigation.
