Dodger Softball 7-1 In Last 8, Hosts Ames In Twin Bill Wednesday Night

Fort Dodge Softball has won four straight and 7 of their last 8. The Dodgers are fresh off a road double header sweep of a ranked Ankeny squad Monday night. Fort Dodge hosts Ames at Rogers Park on Wednesday for a twin bill.

All three of the losses for Fort Dodge, have been second games of double headers against ranked teams. The Dodger are starting to rectify that though. 8th grader Lucy Porter has come on and seems to be emerging as #2 in the pitching rotation.

That’s Dodger Coach Andi Adams. The Dodgers have gotten strong performances thus far from veteran standouts like Jalen Adams, TK Doster, Martyne Lowrey and Tory Bennett they all are hitting .350 or better. Maia Davis is also hitting around .350. 8th grade phenom Mariah Myers is a newcomer that has turned heads hitting hitting nearly .450 and driving in 19 runs in her 1st 13 varsity games.

Fort Dodge has played 13 games this season and 11 of those have been against ranked opponents. The idea behind the strength of schedule, Adams says is to be battle tested going into the postseason.

The Dodgers square with Ames in a twin ball on Wednesday. You can hear both games on 99.7 FM and here on our website,  starting with a 5 PM 1st pitch in game one.
