Dodger Wrestling Takes 3rd At Independence Tournament

The Fort Dodge wrestling finished 3rd out of 33 teams over the weekend at the Independence Invitational. Drake Ayala won the gold in the 120 lb weight class and Carson Taylor took gold at 126. Fort Dodge as a team scored a total of 316 points. Ayala went 6-0 in the tourney with 4 pins on the way to his 3rd title at Independence. Carson Taylor who recently committed to wrestle at Grandview had 4 pins in those 2 days. 8 other Dodger wrestlers finished in the top 10 in their weight classes including Levi Egli at 195, Brandon Mills at 145, Dreyzon Phillips at 138, Lane Cowell at 113, Max Bishop at 106, Brooks Cowell at 132, Savion Wheat at 160 and Reco Jolly at 220. Clarion- Goldfield-Dows and Algona were also in action at the tournament. Clarion had 3 wrestlers finish in the top 10 and finished 17th as a team. Algona finished 14th overall and had 4 wrestlers with top 10 finishes, including Andrew Hamilton who was the silver medalist at 220 pounds.
