The Fort Dodge Dodgers will open district play Sept. 27th at Dodger Stadium taking on Southeast Polk. District play is the ‘season within a season” meaning how the Dodgers do in district play will determine their postseason chances. The Dodgers are 4-0 thus far and ranked 8th in Iowa’s 4A division. In Iowa if a team wins their district they earn an automatic playoff bid and a 1st round home game in the playoffs. If you don’t win the district you then are subject to being selected as an at-large or “wildcard” team for the playoffs. While the Dodgers have had only one team play them within 10 points this season they face their toughest test of the season yet in Southeast Polk. The rams are 3-1 on the year ad ranked 6th in the state 4A division. Their lone loss came to #1 ranked West Des Moines-Valley 31-20 in week 1. The dodgers will hold a spirit walk at 5:30 Pm prior to the game outside of Dodger Stadium. You can hear Rob Jones on the call of the game on 92.1 FM and streaming live online at www.yourfortdodge.com the pregame show will start at 6:45 PM and kick off is 7 PM. Here’s Dodgers Coach Matt Miller on the magnitude of the district opener.
