He fell by decision on Saturday at Waverly-Shell Rock. Ayala who normally wrestles at 126 and is the top ranked wrestler in the nation at that weight, wrestled up at 132. Saturday, he faced Iowa’s top ranked wrestler at 132, Ryder Block of Waverly- Shell Rock. The Senior and future Iowa Hawkeye dropped a hard fought, well wrestled match 9-7 by decision.
Their is some controversy surrounding the loss as Ayala and appeared to get a takedown in the last minute of the match, that wasn’t scored by the officials.
