The weekend drowning death of a Dallas County teenager is still under investigation. Rescue crews were called out to a pond near an apartment complex in Grimes Saturday morning. They recovered the body of Melanie Gonzalez from the pond, she was pronounced dead on the scene.
Gonzalez was a Senior at Perry High School. Their Principal Dan Marburg announced the tragic news on Saturday. The school plans to honor Gonzalez at its upcoming graduation. They will be keeping a chair open with a cap, gown and flowers on the chair to pay tribute to her.
Grief counselors have been on campus at Perry High this week and will continue to be there, until at least through the end of this week.
