The Somers Public Library will be hosting an Age Gracefully program with sessions every 2nd Thursday of the month at 10 am at the library starting June 13th. The program is aimed at promoting Active Aging- “the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security, in order to enhance the quality of life as people age” with the older person at the helm as active change agent and protagonist.
The program will consist of a series of interactive lectures/talks, focus group discussion and activities on a range of issues including brain health, physical activity, emotional well-being, falls prevention and dementia management and will be facilitated by a healthcare professional. It will also incorporate building of community partnerships and social networks as well as advocating for Age-friendly communities.
Everyone is welcome.
