An explosion Tuesday Night in Dallas County was reportedly heard for miles around. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8 pm Tuesday after reports of an explosion. They determined that a group of teenagers were responsible for the explosion. The incident occurred when the group set off an impact explosive known as tannerite just south of Woodward. The explosive was set off on private property south of Woodward and people reported hearing it in Madrid and Perry. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said nobody was injured in the explosion and charges will not be filed. Tannerite is legal in the U.S. but when used improperly has been known to cause property damage, injury and even death. In 2019, a tannerite explosion caused the death of a woman who was hit by debris in the explosion near Knoxville, Iowa.
