Fatal Accident at Eagle Grove Plant Today

There was a fatal accident at Prestage Foods of Iowa in Eagle Grove this morning. The accident occurred on the third shift while an employee was performing routine maintenance duties.

A Prestage Foods of Iowa Press Release named 57-year-old Jeffrey Leonardi as the deceased. Leonardi was a mechanic and had been with the company since March of 2019 when the plant opened.

Iowa OSHA has been notified, and Prestage says they are offering their full cooperation. In addition, they are conducting an internal investigation. Prestage is also offering support to employees through the Employee Assistance Program.
