One man is dead following a shooting last night in downtown Fort Dodge.

5 shots could be heard near the area of 2nd Avenue North and North 10th Street at just after 7pm.

Soon after screams were heard and a man, lying flat on his back could be seen on the sidewalk.

Fort Dodge Fire and Rescue, the Fort Dodge Police Department, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the scene and life saving efforts were administered.

He was pronounced dead and the scene and the area turned from a rescue scene to a crime scene guarded with crime tape and a slew of law enforcement officers.

At this time the man’s identity is not being released by officials and a search for the killer is just beginning.
