Fate of Former Nursing Home on Tonight’s City Council Agenda in Fort Dodge

One of the first steps in demolishing a vacant nursing home in Fort Dodge is on the agenda tonight for the Fort Dodge City Council.

A public hearing will be set tonight for the Asbestos Abatement Project for the former Greenleaf Healthcare Facility at 1305 North 22nd Street.

The proposed bid date for the project is Tuesday May 9th with a public hearing proposed for May 22nd according to city council agenda details.

The nursing home has sat vacant for years and once the asbestos abatement process is completed, a time for the property to be torn down will be set.

80 percent of the asbestos removal project is being funded through state grants and the rest is funded from the abandoned building fund.

Cost is estimated at just under 300 thousand dollars.
