Father Charged After Altercation With His Son In Greene County

A Paton man is facing charges after an altercation with his son in Greene County in late May. The argument happened in the Fareway parking lot in Jefferson on May 29th. The altercation was between 44 year old, Rene Guzman and his 22 year old son, Matthew Guzman.

Matthew and his friends left the parking lot after the initial altercation. Allegedly, Rene followed them and deliberately rammed his vehicle into their vehicle. According to the incident report, Matthew Guzman then shot at his father multiple times with a pistol.

Matthew told police, that he and his friends were scared for their lives and the shots were in self defense.

Rene Guzman is charged with 2nd degree criminal mischief, wilful injury, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and reckless driving.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
