“Fireworks” Possible In Regular Season Finale Friday Night For HS Football
It seems like just yesterday the 2020 regular season started for high school football teams, but the regular season has flown by. The regular season finale Friday Night could bring “fireworks” the final game has postseason implications for area teams. South Central Calhoun is back in action after being idle last week due to Eagle Grove having to cancel last week’s game amid covid-19 related concerns. SC Calhoun hosts Belmond-Klemme, that game a 6:45 PM pregane and 7 pm kick on 105-9 “The Beach”. Mark Williamson and Brian Peters will have the call of a game the Titans need to win to stay in the District Title hunt. Southeast Valley is in the driver’s seat in that race if they beat Pocahontas Area they will have finished an unbeaten regular season and would win the District Title. However, a Pocahontas Area win and SCC loss gives Pocahontas Area the District crown. A Pocahontas Area win and a SCC win would force a 3 way tie for 1st place.
On “Sunny” 99.7 St. Edmond hosts Bishop Garrigan. The Gaels are 4-2 if they can get the win in week 7 that would give them grounds to be considered for a home game in the 1st round of the playoffs. It’s Homecoming for St. Edmond Friday at Dodger Stadium. Gaels Coach Matt Dillon says he thinks his Seniors will keep his team focused and keep out the distractions.
The Gaels will be giving up a ton of size to Garrigan at the line of scrimmage , here’s Coach Dillon on how they hope to negate the size difference.

Humboldt will host Gilbert in week 7. Humboldt is 4-2 so they have secured a winning regular season in just the 3rd year at the helm for Coach Derrick Elman.
