Food Bank Iowa Helps Combat Food Insecurity In Webster County
Food Bank of Iowa trucks delivered close to 50,000 pounds of food in Webster County in October. Sixtenn local partners here in Webster County then distributed the food to those in need. Food Bank Of Iowa says they are grateful for the opportunity to help Webster County residents in need, in hopes they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of county residents.
Food pantries across Iowa have seen a dramatic increase in need since the Covid-19 pandemic began. Recently, Feeding America reported food insecurity has doubled since January and tripled for households with children. Food Bank of Iowa says they are positioned to help meet the additional needs, today, tomorrow and in the future. Even though the Food Bank Iowa distribution centers are in Des Moines and Ottumwa, their fleet is on the road everyday covering 30,000 square miles of Iowa, including Webster and the surrounding counties.
