It’ll be a homecoming of sorts this weekend at Dodger Stadium, as Iowa Central hosts Grandview’s JV Team. The Tritons will take on a Viking JV squad that features former Fort Dodge standouts.
Former Dodger QB Drake Miller, the son of former Dodger Coach and all time wins leader Matt Miller will maker his return to Dodger Stadium. In 2018, his Senior season as a Dodger he threw for nearly 3,000 yards. That was good for 3rd in all of Iowa and threw 29 TD passes.
Joining Miller, is former Dodger standout linemen Logan Finowski. He is a class of 2019 grad and is now playing the o-line at Grandview. A pair of Class Of 2020, alums are at Linebacker in Austin Lee and Levi Egli.
In the fall of 2019, those two were part of the vaunted Dodger LB corp nicknamed “The Law Firm” along with Tyler Nichols and Shane Halligan. Lee led the team in tackles in 2019, with 63 tackles, 17 for loss and had 3 sacks. Egli recorded 51 tackles and an interception in his Senior campaign.
Iowa Central will look to spoil the unofficial homecoming for the former Dodgers. The Tritons come in ranked 10th in the NJCAA after a hard fought loss last week. The Tritons will look to bounce back after falling 34-20 to rival Iowa Western.
Iowa Central and Grandview’s JV will square off at Dodger Stadium Saturday for a noon kick.
