Former Iowa University Basketball Coach Lute Olson has died at the age of 85. Olson was said to have been having health struggles since a stroke in February of 2019. Olson came to Iowa from Long Beach State University on 1974. Olson guided Iowa from 1974-1983 and led them to the 1980 Final Four. He was instrumental in the development of Carver Hawkeye Arena, as many refer to it as “the house Lute Olson Built”. Olson left Iowa City in 1983 to coach at Arizona University. During his time in Tucson, he led Arizona to 23 straight NCAA tournament appearances, 4 Final Fours and the National Title in 1997.
