Issues with animal control here in Fort Dodge have been a focal point of late. Over 1,700 people have now signed a petition asking for improvements. The issue most point to is one that is structural, in terms of the contract for coverage for those issues is currently set up. Fort Dodge City Council Member Jeff Halter recently spoke on the issues and siad that he’s suggested the council examine the structure of animal control.
Halter says that complaints about the local animal control system have been ongoing for years.
He went onto say he feels more animal control staff is a requisite need.
Halter says an increase in funding would likely mean cuts to other budget line items. However, he feels the upgrades are necessary.
Halter made his comments during an appearance on “Devine Intervention” with Mike Devine on KVFD AM 1400.
