Fort Dodge Girls Start Playoff Journey At Home Wednesday Night

The Fort Dodge Girls have hit their stride at the right time, winning 4 in a row heading into the playoffs. The Dodgers have been winning and doing so in convincing fashion in the win streak. One of the keys to the recent success has been the transition game. The Dodgers have been able to get out and run converting easy buckets after forcing turnovers on defense. It has been about turning defense into offense and Coach Scott Messerly says the formula will stay the same on Wednesday Night.

Offensively, The Dodgers are led by Aleaha Pommer and Tory Bennett. Both of the Junuiors are avering 11 each. Pommer has been in double figures for 7 straight games, including a career high of 26 in a win at Marshalltown last Friday. Bennett also brings the overall floor game with her, as she averages 6.5 rebounds per and 4 assists per. Bennett leads the team in rebounding despite being the point guard and the shortest player in the starting line up.

The Dodgers will welcome in a Sioux City North team who has struggled. North has is on a 14 game losing streak. However, the playoffs are a 1 game scenario, where it’s not about what you did the last 4 games, 4 weeks, or 4 months , it’s about what you do the next 4 quarters.

Fort Dodge and Sioux City North will tip at 7 PM, with pregame coverage starting at 6:45 PM. The game will air on your home for Dodger Basketball, 92.1 FM and here on our website.
