Fort Dodge Man Accused Of Murder Found Fit For Trial

A Fort Dodge man accused of murder has been found competent to stand trial. 28 year old Mark Russell was in court Friday and will stand trial after a psych evaluation on April 21st concluded his schizophrenic symptoms have lessened. Russell underwent treatment at the Iowa Medical Classification Center after being sent there for court ordered evaluation.  Russell is accused of the murder of Angela Mcleod in January at her home on North 14th St. in Fort Dodge. Police say Russell beat the mother of his ex-girlfriend to death with a golf club. Due to covid-19 related restrictions his trial will not begin until September at the earliest.
