Fort Dodge Man Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Two People And Eluding Police

A Fort Dodge man is facing multiple charges after police say he physically assaulted a man and woman. The Fort Dodge Police And Fire Departments were dispatched to North 24th St, around 7 AM Thursday on a call if an injured person. Upon arrival, they found a 34 year old woman and 23 year old man who had been assaulted. According to reports, the assailant 29 year old Joshua J. Christy of Fort Dodge was assaulting the woman when the 23 year old man intervened. Christy then allegedly assaulted the man to the point of injury and took off in the man’s vehicle. Police located vehicle around 7:20 AM on North 9th St. here in Fort Dodge and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Police say, Christy led them on a pursuit outside city limits. The vehicle eventually became disabled at the intersection of Nelson Ave. and 150th St just north of Fort Dodge. Christy was then taken into custody, he had an outstanding warrant from here in Webster County. Christy faces several charges from Thursday’s alleged incidents including Operating a vehicle without owner’s consent, domestic assault causing injury, assault causing bodily injury, and 5th degree criminal mischief. The man who was allegedly assaulted was taken to Unity Point Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.
