Fort Dodge Man Arrested On Kidnapping And Other Charges Saturday

The Fort Dodge Police released a statement Saturday regarding the arrest of 33 year old Fort Dodge resident Leon C. Drayton. Police responded to a call Saturday morning at a residence on Ave M in Fort Dodge. Officers say Drayton had assaulted the woman and forced her into a vehicle before fleeing the scene. Later, officers from Webster County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle and executed a traffic stop. Police say there was an 8 year old child in the vehicle with Drayton and the woman. The investigation uncovered that Drayton forcefully entered the woman’s home and threatened her with a knife then forced the woman and child in the vehicle. The child was uninjured , the woman was taken to Unity Point- Fort Dodge, she was treated for her injuries and released. Drayton is charged with 2nd degree kidnapping, 1st degree burglary, willful injury, felony domestic assault and 3 other misdemeanors.  Police were still investigating the incident at the time of this report.
