Fort Dodge Man Arrested On Multiple Felony Charges After Running From Police

The Fort Dodge Police Dept. released a statement regarding an arrest made Thursday Afternoon. Around 2 PM Thursday they received reports that a man crashed his vehicle through a door at Northern Lights Distributing on 8th Ave South in Fort Dodge. The man has been identified as 32 year old Fort Dodge resident Nicholas Ertl. He then allegedly went into an office space and interacted with employees while he had a knife on his person. Police say he did not display the knife. He then drive back out the door he crashed through and fled the scene. Officers located the vehicle he was driving and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Ertl refused to stop, he then got out on foot and ran.He ran inside an apartment, officers were able to get into the apartment and arrested him without incident. Ertl is charged with 1st degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, and Eluding. He also was charged with 2 counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance from an unrelated investigation.
