The verdict is in regarding the 1st degree murder trial of a Fort Dodge man accused of killing his estranged wife in 2020. Hurdel has been found guilty by a Boone County jury. His estranged wife Maggie Flint was just 38, when she was shot and killed last August.
Throughout the trial Hurdel maintained that he didn’t mean to shoot Flint. He testified that he intended to kill himself in front of her. After the incident Hurdel led law enforcement on a manhunt of over 16 hours.
Hurdel faces a mandatory life sentence without parole for the 1st degree murder conviction. He is due back in court in August for sentencing, which will be just days after the one year anniversary of Flint’s death.
