Fort Dodge Police Say Around 40 Shots Fired Thursday Night
Fort Dodge Police released a statement Friday afternoon regarding an investigation into a shooting. The statement says that around 8:15 PM Thursday night they received multiple calls regarding shots fired in the 1800 block of South 15th St in Fort Dodge. Officers also received reports of a vehicle crash on Mason Drive while in route. Police located an unoccupied Chevy Impala with damage from a crash and what appeared to be bullet holes. Officers also found a Dodge Journey on 8th Ave South that had been damaged from gunfire. Police believe two groups of people shot at each other in the 1400 block of 8th Ave South. They estimate that around 40 shots were fired. Both vehicles were occupied during the incident. Property damage occurred to a residence and vehicle that were not involved in the shooting, no injuries were reported. A 17 year old male was taken into custody during the investigation on an unrelated charge. The shooting is still under investigation, Police ask that anyone with information come forward.
