Fort Dodge Regional Airport Lands Three Year Contract Commitment with SkyWest Airlines

No Foolin’

On  April 1st, after nearly two years of going month to month operating under 30 day US-DOT holding orders, the Fort Dodge Regional Airport will begin a SOLID three year contract with SkyWest Airlines.

According to Director of Aviation at the Fort Dodge Regional Airport, Rhonda Chambers, an order for proposals was put out in December and they received two requests, one from SkyWest and another from Southern Airways.

Chambers says the airport commission along with the mayor submitted a joint letter in support for continued service from SkyWest.

In March of 2022, SkyWest announced plans to terminate service in Fort Dodge and 28 other communities they serviced citing pilot staffing challenges as its main reason.

The new contract starts April 1st and will run through March 31st 2027.
