Fort Dodge Regional Airport Takes Care of Winter Mix

(Alpha Media – Brooke Bickford) One thing that is pretty predictable when it comes to Iowa winters is that they are unpredictable. From 60 degrees on Monday to a nice icy wintery mix today, when you live here you have to be prepared for it all.
That is especially important when it comes to the roads and one very important segment of concrete that you may forget about is that out to the airport.
Executive Director for the Fort Dodge Regional Airport, Rhonda Chambers says clearing the runway is a little different than having to clear the streets and salt can not be used.
Chambers says it is quite an undertaking and that “mile of highway” is actually about 12 lanes of traffic wide and that all needs to be cared for to enable safe travels.
