The Fort Dodge Community School District announced a delay in the start of the 2020-21 academic year on Friday. The district sent out an email to parents of students to notify them. Below is a copy of that email.

Dodger Families and Staff – After meeting with Webster County Public Health to review the data and numbers today, we have decided to delay the start of school for all students.  The first day of classes for all students, both At School and At Home, will be Tuesday, September 8.  Preschool open house, elementary conferences, middle school orientation and freshman orientation will be rescheduled to Thursday, September 3.  More information will be sent out in the next week or so regarding how to sign up for times for these events.  A revised calendar will be approved by the board at a special meeting on Monday and will be shared after that time.

All staff still need to report to work Monday, August 17.  We will move forward with professional development, building meetings and work time while observing social distancing through next week.  All meetings that were scheduled for Monday, August 24, will be moved to Thursday, August 20 (staff report from 7:45 – 3:45), since open house, conferences and orientations are being moved to September 3. Staff will not be required to report August 24 through September 2 or on September 4. More information will be provided to staff on Monday.
