Fort Dodge Softball Falls In State Title Game

It was a historic night and tremendous season for Dodgers that came down to a showdown with Cedar Radpis Kennedy for the 2020 5A State Championship. The Dodgers made their 1st appearance in the State Title game in softball in the tournament’s 50th anniversary at Rogers Park here in Fort Dodge. The Dodgers would fall 5-1 to Cedar Rapids Kennedy. Cougars would score 4 in the 3rd after getting 2 infield hits in the inning and a total of 4 hits from the top of their line up. Dodgers would get one in the 3rd, when Malia Lowrey would score their lone run after leading off the inning with a bunt single. Fort Dodge would leave to on base in the 3rd. Kennedy would tack on another run in the 5th after a Mya Dodge lead off triple. Dodgers would get 2 hits in the game they would mamnage just 3 hits total off of Nebraska commit Kalin Kinney. Even with the loss, the Dodgers had a history making season going to the State Championship Game for the 1st time in program history. Fort Dodge will graduate one everyday starter and 2 Seniors total from this year’s team who finished as Regional Champs, State Runner Ups and closed the season 28-4. Jalen Adams, Martyne Lowrey, and Haley Wills were all named to the 2020 All Tournament Team.
