Fort Dodge Softball Has Sights On “Big Gold Trophy” As They Open Monday

Area Baseball and Softball teams open their seasons on Monday. Fort Dodge Softball will take center stage and welcome in a solid measuring stick opponent. The Dodgers host Johnston in a twin bill at Rogers Park.

Fort Dodge made history last year advancing to the State Championship Game for the 1st time. They fell in that one to Cedar Rapids-Kennedy. Dodger Coach Andi Adams says her team was able to use that loss to fuel them coming into this season.

The Dodgers seem to be poised at a run to capture that ever elusive “big gold trophy” this season. They return 8 of last season’s 9 regular starters. The returnees include two nominees for Gatorade State Player Of The Year in TK Doster and Jalen Adams. It is rarefied air to have two players from the same team up for that award.
