Fort Dodge Softball Makes History

Fort Dodge Softball has now done it, they have completed the mission. On Friday night, the Dodgers made history.

The Dodgers blank Ankeny Centennial to win the 5A State Title. The Dodgers would get on the board in the 2nd.

Senior LF Chloe Wertz with a solo blast to put the Dodgers up 1-0, her 2nd of the season. Fort Dodge added one more in the 3rd, they scored after a Jalen Adams double to lead off the inning. Those two would be all Jalen would need. She threw a complete game, two hit shutout and struck out 13. She was named All Tournament Team Captain, after going 3-0 allowing just 3 runs in 21 innings of work.

Jalen with her pos tgame comments there. Coach Andi Adams had done everything possible but win the State Title until Friday night. That title is the culmination of her two decades at the helm. Here’s the “history maker” with her reaction.

The Senior starters Chloe Wertz, Sophia Klinger and TK Doster made the most of their high school finale, they combined to go 7 for 9 at the plate. Adams added a pair of doubles.

Fort Dodge finishes 38-4 with their highest single season winning percentage in program history, and the program’s 1st ever State Title.
