Rob Jones – Fort Dodge: The Dodgers Softball team had a hard fought 3-0 victory over Ankeny to win the regional title and punch their ticket to next week’s state tournament. The state tournament will be at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex here in Fort Dodge, as it is every year. The Dodgers won’t have to leave town to compete for the crown. Freshman Pitcher Jalen Adams was superb again for Fort Dodge she threw her 2nd straight complete game shutout in the playoffs allowing just 2 hits vs Ankeny. That makes 14 consecutive scoreless innings for Jalen in the playoffs  and a combined 16 strikeouts in 2 playoff games. The hard fought nature of the win combined with the magnitude of the regional final brought out emotions in Coach Andi Adams in the post-game in which she talked about loving her players but coaching them tough to prepare them for this moment.

The Dodgers struggled offensively as they didn’t score until the 6th inning thanks to strong pitching and defense from Ankeny. The Dodgers broke the tie win Sophomore Catcher TK Doster scored on a squeeze bunt by Aubrey Davis. The Dodgers then got a 2 run homer to right center field by 1st baseman Loghen Schnetzer her 14th of the season breaking the Dodgers single season home run record.

That would put the Dodgers up 3-0 and would be all that Adams would need as she seem to great stronger as the game went on after pitching her way out of a jam in the 3rd.  The Dodgers are now 34-6 on the season, 16-1 in their last 17 games and have won 10 in a row. The Dodgers seems to peaking at the right time heading into state next week.
