Fort Dodge Softball & St. Edmond Baseball Open Playoff Journey Monday

“Mother Nature” is undefeated all time during baseball and softball season. She exerted her dominance on Saturday, raining out the scheduled playoff openers for both St. Edmond Baseball and Fort Dodge Softball. Both of those teams will now play today (Monday). Both St. Edmond Coach Mike Szalat and Fort Dodge Coach Andi Adams appeared on the Hy-Vee Fort Dodge Coaches Corner show on 99.7 Saturday morning to talk about their playoff openers.

St. Edmond has Harris-Lake Park in their playoff opener at Bishop Garrigan. The game is set for a 5 PM 1st pitch on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website. Brian Peters has the call of the game.

St. Edmond Coach Mike Szalat says the formula for success in the playoff opener is a simple one.

Due to the St. Edmond game likely being in progress still when Fort Dodge is scheduled to play, the Dodgers will air on 92.1 FM tonight and here on our website. #2nd ranked Fort Dodge will take center stage in prime time. The Dodgers have been rolling along winners of 13 straight and 10 of those coming by mercy rule. The Dodgers are 33-4 overall,  27-1 since starting the season 6-3. Their last loss came to top ranked Muscatine 1-0 on June 19th. Coach Andi Adams feels her squad is primed for a postseason run after playing one of Iowa’s toughest regular season schedules.

Coverage of Dodger Softball in the 5A Regional Semifinals hosting Sioux City North, will begin with the pregame show at 6:50, with 1st pitch set for 7PM at Rogers Park. Rob Jones will have the call of the game.
