Fort Dodge Softball Wins Two More, Dodger Baseball Drops Two Wednesday Night

Wednesday Night saw Fort Dodge host Mason City for double header action both in baseball at Mcneil Field and in softball at Rogers Park. In games heard on “Sunny” 99.7 and here on our website Fort Dodge baseball dropped both games of their home double dip with rival Mason City. Mohawks took game 1 9-0 behind a complete game 5 hit shutout on the hill by Alex Gold and Connor Wiemann’s 6 RBI’s as he had a 2 run double in the 1st inning and a grand slam in the 5th.  In game two Dodgers gave up 4 in the 1st and trailed 4-0 before they rallied to score 6 in the 5th. Mason City got 2 in the 7th to tie it at 6. The game went to extra innings and Mason City got one in the 8th on an Alex Deets double. Dodgers got a lead off double from Eli Elsbecker in the bottom of the 8th he advanced to 3rd on a Nelson Cone sac bunt. However, The Dodgers couldn’t drive in Eli Elsbecker he was thrown out at the plate to end the game as he was trying to score on a 2 out bunt by Tyler Schreier and the Dodgers fell in a thriller 7-6.

#1 Fort Dodge Softball had no issues with rival mason City as they swept both games in convincing fashion. Dodgers took game 1 11-1 in 5 innings and game 2 13-3 in 6. Jalen Adams the win in game 1 that marks her 15th win of the season, she also had 7 hits in the double header. Haley Wills had 3 RBI’s in game 1 and got the win in the circle in game 2. Dodgers have now won 9 in a row, they’ll be back in action Thursday night on the road taking on ADM.
