The Dodgers defeated a good Ankeny Centennial team who made the Dodgers earn everything. The Dodgers are for the 1st time playing for the State Title after winning 5-3 in the Semifinals.
Ankeny Centennial struck 1st scoring one in the top of the 1st. Dodgers would answer in the bootom of the 1st when Catcher T.K. Doster would go deep.
A run homer by Doster put the Dodgers up 2-1 after the 1st. Centennial would get one in the 3rd and the Dodgers would add one in their half of the 3rd to go up 3-2 after 3 innings. Centennial would tie it on an RBI ground out in the 5th. Dodgers again would answer in the 5th when Martyne Lowrey came to the plate.
Lowrey’s 1st home run of the season and she couldn’t have picked a better time to do it. That put the Dodgers up 4-3, they tacked on an insurance run in the 6th when Martyne Lowrey got her 2nd hit of the game an RBI single that scored T.K. Doster. Jalen Adams would sit down Centennial 1,2,3 in the 7th to win it. Adams had another complete game and earned her 20th win in the circle on the season putting her 1st in Iowa in pitching wins.
