Fort Dodge To Add Cameras in Area Plagued By Recent Crimes
One of the biggest aids in helping to solve and prosecute crimes is video evidence, and that is what the city of Fort Dodge is planning on investing more in as it moves to phase two in a high crime area.
On the agenda for Monday’s City Council meeting is the approval of a nearly $40-thousand contract with Iowa Fire Control LLC to expand the city camera system to the area between North 22nd and 23rd streets and the 6th and 8th Avenue block, which is the location of Dodger Townhomes.
According to an action request from Fort Dodge Police Chief Roger Porter to the council and the mayor the need for cameras in the area is firstly due to significant criminal activity there.
In addition, with school starting at both the public and private schools soon, this very high traffic area would benefit from being monitored for the safety of our children.
