Fort Dodge Wrestling finished 2nd in the team standings over the weekend in Waverly at the Rick Caldwell Invitational. Top ranked Waverly- Shell Rock won the event. Drake Ayala, Carson Taylor, Drezyon Phillips all won championships in their weight classes. Lane Cowell, Brandon Mills, Cody Cook all had 2nd place finishes. Dodgers are back in action Monday at Mason City.
The state girls wrestling tournament was this weekend in Waverly. Fort Dodge Freshman Alexis Ross finished 3rd at 132 pounds. It was the 1st ever medal at the girls state tournament for Dodger wrestling. St. Edmond Elly Berry competed at girls state going 1-2 in the tournament. Humboldt Junior Kendal Clark brought home the hardware as she won the state title in just her 1st year of wrestling. Clark went unbeaten in the tournament with 3 pins.
Results from the North Central Conference Championships over the weekend, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows finished 2nd as a team falling short by just 6 points to Iowa Falls – Alden. Humboldt finished 3rd with Algona Webster City and St. Edmond finishing in the top 8. Reed Abbas and Garret Seaba won individual titles for the Cowboys. Humboldt had 3 wrestlers win titles and Algona had 2. St. Edmond Freshman Ronnie Orres finished 4th in his weight class.
