Governor Reynolds Announces Disaster Emergency And Orders Closures
Governor Reynolds has issued a state of public health disaster emergency, activating public health response and recovery aspects of the state disaster emergency plan effective as of 12 PM Tuesday. The plan takes significant steps to require social distancing to limit community spread of Covid- 19. The plan calls for restaurants to be drive thru, carry out or delivery only. The plan also enacts the closure of bars and recreational facilities. Under the plan all fitness centers, health clubs and gyms will be closed. Theaters, performance venues, casinos all will be closed as ell. Senior centers and adult daycare facilities are ordered to be closed. Any gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited and must be canceled or postponed.
In other news the Iowa Senate and House voted to waive the requirements of days Iowa schools must be in session. The legislature approved that measure before it ended the current legislative session for at least 30 days due to the Covid- 19 pandemic.
