Governor Reynolds Wednesday: “Half Of Iowa Shouldn’t Be Punished Due To Spike In Eight Areas”

From Radio Iowa- Governor Kim Reynolds said at her Wednesday press conference that the data shows Iowa hospitals have not been overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients and test results show the disease is not prevalent in the 77 counties where she’s lifted some restrictions.

Reynolds announced Wednesday that 93 percent of the state’s new COVID-19 cases are in the 22 counties where business closures related to the pandemic remain in effect. Reynolds says a recent University of Iowa analysis suggesting statewide restrictions should remain in effect provided a “snapshot in time,” while other data shows portions of the state are on a healthy path.

As of Wednesday the state is reporting that 148 Iowans have died from the virus.
