A Hamilton County man is set to spend the next half century behind bars. 34 year old Webster City resident, Zackery Bassett has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, after he was convicted of 2nd degree murder earlier this year.
Bassett was found guilty in the 2018 murder of his former girlfriend Andrea Sokolowski. Bassett was convicted in February, his trial lasted two weeks.
In Iowa, 2nd degree murder carries a mandatory 50 year sentence. Offenders must serve 70% of that time before the eligibility of parole.
