A community in Hamilton County, has come together to raise money after a tragedy there earlier this year. In late March, two Iowa State students who were members of the crew club drowned after their boat capsized in Little Wall Lake. The Jewell Community has now started fundraising efforts to purchase new rescue boats for their Fire and Rescue Dept.
The Jewell Market hosted a fundraising meal on Sunday, WG Provisions provided the beef for the meal. Sunday’s fundraiser is said to have raised over $10,000. The estimated total cost of the boats and other related expenses is around $40,000.
