Iowa Basketball had to earn the win over Michigan State on Tuesday Night. It was a hard fought, competitive game all the way through. In the end, Iowa was able to win it 84-78 and maybe more importantly they protected their home floor in conference play. Hawks scored 48 in the 1st half and led by 5 at the break. Iowa had just 5 turnovers on the night and got a “mountain top” performance out of their bench of 39 points. Three Iowa players were in double figures, Luka Garza had a game high 27 points and 12 boards. Jack Nunge had 12 and 8, Joe Touissant added 10 points and 6 assists. Sparty got 24 points and 9 boards from AAron henry, Josh Langford had 15. Garza’a 27 helped him eclipse the 2,000 career point plateau. “Garzilla” now moves into 2nd on the school’s all time scoring list, behind Roy Marble.
