Friday January 31st is a night jam packed with high school hoops action across the Alpha Media stations. St. Edmond, Fort Dodge and South Central Calhoun will all be in action in games that you can hear on the air and online here at our website. Below is the Friday night line up of game broadcasts.

105.9 “The Beach”- The South Central Calhoun Titans are in action hosting Newell- Fonda.  The Newell-Fonda girls are undefeated on the season and come in ranked #1 in Iowa 1A. The South Central Calhoun girls are looking to get back on track as they have lost 3 of their last 5, after starting the season 10-2. They have an opportunity to get a monumental win and put the rest of the state on notice if they can pull the upset. The Titan Boys have been red hot winning their last 9 straight but they face off with a Newell-Fonda team that also has 9 straight. Something has to give as one team will have their winning streak snapped. SCC’s Zane Neubaum has been on fire during the winning streak. He comes into Friday’s game averaging over 25 points per game which ranked him in the top in the entire state in scoring average. Join Brian Peters for the call of the games starting at 5:45 PM.

“92 Rock” – Fort Dodge plays host to Southeast Polk on Friday. The Dodger girls will have their work cut out for them against the 6th ranked team in Iowa 5A. Southeast Polk’s girls are 15-1 they’ve won 5 straight, their only loss was to 5th ranked Waukee on January 13th. Junior Grace Larkins is a D1 prospect and  all state caliber player who leads the SEP attack averaging over 23 points per game. Tonight will mark the 9th game this season the Dodger girls have played a team ranked in the top 15. The Dodger boys while they fell in games on Monday and Tuesday have shown vast improvement. Monday’s game vs Mason City was a gutsy comeback effort for the Dodgers that fell just short. In Tuesday’s home loss to Johnston the Dodgers trailed by just 5 after the 3rd quarter and it wasn’t until the last 4 minutes that Johnston pulled away. The Dodgers have picked up the tempo and been playing in transition more, as a result they had their best offensive output of the season against Mason City scoring 64. The youth movement by Coach Tom Daniel to play younger players like Drake Callon and Carson Peterson among others has given the Dodgers a spark. Senior Ty Kershaw is thriving in the faster pace of the game as well as he has 37  combined points in the last 2 games. Both the Dodger teams are looking to avenge road losses to the Rams on January 3rd. Tonight’s game a 6 PM scheduled start for the Girls pregame show with the boys to follow, catch rob Jones on the call.

“Sunny” 99.7 – St. Edmond is in action again Friday , it will be the 3rd game in 4 nights. To make things worse it is the 3rd road trip of the week as well and against quality opponents. The Gaels girls and boys have fallen in both games coming into Friday’s games. The Gaels boys have lost in heartbreaking fashion dropping 2 out of their last 3 games in overtime. In both games  against Clear Lake, the Gaels will have to contend with ranked teams. A 5:30 Pm scheduled start for girls pregame show with boys to follow, Greg Woods will be on the call.
