High School Football Area Playoff Results

The 6 seed in class 1A the  South Central Calhoun Titans got a 1st round win cruising past 12 seed Mt. Ayr 56-22. The ground game for South Central Calhoun was led the way racking up 362 rushing yards. Keegan Meyer had 147 rushing yards and 2 TD’s, Landon Scliesman added 2 TD’s and 129 yards on the ground. The Titans will move on to the 2nd round, they will be on the road taking on the 1 seed Van Meter. You can hear that game Friday November 8th a 6:45 PM pregame, 7 PM kick on 105.9 “The Beach”.

The Fort Dodge Dodgers concluded their season with a 1st round playoff loss to the 5 seed Cedar Rapids Kennedy 63 to 6. The Kennedy rushing attack was the story racking up 9 total rushing TD’s. Kennedy QB Max White had 4 rushing TD’s. The Dodgers lone score in the game came on a kickoff return for a TD by Senior WR Tysen Kershaw. The Dodgers finish the season at 6-4. This season marked just the 5th time the program has earned back to back playoff appearances since 1981. Dodger coach Matt Miller became the all time wins leader this season in the regular season finale win  against Marshalltown.

Results from other area teams in the playoffs in 2A The 3 seed Algona downed CLGLR 35-14. Also in 2A Greene County got a road playoff win knocking off Des Moines Christian 35-21. In class A IKM-Manning fell to number 1 seed West hancock 46-14. Algona will host Greene County in the 2nd round on Friday November 8th.
