A couple of area high school wrestling teams were in action trhis week. On Tuesday night both South Central Calhoun and East Sac County saw action as they wrestled in a quad, the other teams involved were Estherville Lincoln Central and Ridge View. The South Central Calhoun Titans got a team win over East Sac County 54-30. The riaders then bounced back to beat Ridge View 45-30 but would fall to Estherville Lincoln Central 54-22. South Central Calhoun fell to Estherville Lincoln Central 38-36 but would beat Ridge View 45-28. East Sac would have three wrestlers go unbeaten on the night, including Garrett Quirk, Charlie Veit and Ethan Bryant.
Thursday night, #4 Fort Dodge is on the road for a dual at Ballard. Dodgers are coming off a 2nd place team finish at the Indianola Invitational last weekend. Fort Dodge had six wrestlers win their weight classes in that event. University of Iowa signee and two time State Champ Drake Ayala won the 132 pound class , he is expected backto wrestle at his normal weight of 126 on Thursday. Ayala is ranked #1 in the country at 126. The Dodgers expect to welcome Kody Cook back to the line up Thursday at 160.
St. Edmond will take on Humboldt and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in triangular action Thursday night. Gaels are expecting to have standouts Ryan Duckett and Ronnie Orres in the line up for the first time on the young season. Humboldt had had solid team showings with a win in a dual over Estherville Lincoln Central and a 3 rd place finish at the tournament they hosted last weekend. Humboldt had two champions in that event, Jase Goodell at 132 and Colby Clarken at 138. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is expected to send four ranked wrestlers to the mat in the Thursday triangular. Those four include Remington Hanson at 138, Reed Abbas at 145, Garrett Seaba at 160 and Kain Nelson at 285.
