Fort Dodge Wrestling will be at home for the first time this season on Thursday Night. The home opener will see the 4th ranked Dodgers host the 8th ranked Ankeny Hawks. However, this home opener will be unconventional due to the covid-19 pandemic. Governor Kim Reynolds eased covid-19 restrictions on high school sporting events earlier this week. However, the Central Iowa Metro League or CIML which is the league Fort Dodge is a member of is sticking with their original guidelines, at least for the time being. Those guidelines for winter sports state that no general admission will be allowed and attendance will be limited to two household members at a sporting event. The Don Miller Fort Dodge Invitational is set for Saturday and the same guidelines will be in place for it as well. That means that many passionate and longtime Dodger Wrestling fans will not be able to attend and enjoy Thursday’s home opener or the tournament Saturday. Since so many that normally would attend will not be able to, we do expect to have results from the home opener Thursday on our newscasts on the air and here on our website Friday.
